Kingsway Centre of Concern Newsletter December 2011

Note from the news desk
Dear friends of Kingsway, what a challenging, busy but very fulfilling year we experienced in 2011. We look back at 2011 with gratitude towards our Heavenly Father and His faithfulness but also to you, our friends and donors for your continued support.

Class of 2022

The Class of 2022 Gala event was held at Maragon School. The African Children's choir and our own Kingsway Choir participated as did Elvis Blue. The evening was a wonderful success and enjoyed by all. R147 000 was raised for the development fund for the new school. Well done to Riekies and her team for an outstanding effort. Thank you to Vega Instruments SA, our main sponsor and to all who sponsored individual tickets and prizes.

Read-a-Thon – Clearwater Mall
Thursday, 8 September was World Literacy Day,Kingsway Centre of Concern made sure that this day was celebrated locally. We had an awareness campaign held at Clearwater Mall. The day was filled with fun-filled activities for children, and at the same time, it tested and was set to improve, their reading skills.Schools that participated in this cause included Maragon, Trinityhouse and Kingsway. Monash University and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) were also part of the campaign with students volunteering.
The school pupils were delighted to have Bertha le Roux (Emma from 7de Laan) read books to them. Thank you to Clearwater Mall for hosting us.

ALR GOLF DAY
Thank you ALR and CTL Outsourcing for hosting another golf day in aid of Kingsway Christian School at Ruimsig Country club. Your support is invaluable, as are all the sponsors who supported the day too; R100000 was raised.

Kingsway School Christmas Party

It took place at the Nazarene Centre on the 6th of December. 270 Children swam, ate KFC and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you Verifone Africa for you sponsorship, we missed your presence this year.

Kingsway School is 25 years old!
Kingsway celebrated 25 years of existence on the 15th of October when we held the Ebenezer 25th Birthday Celebration at Honeyridge Baptist Church. We wanted to acknowlege God and thank Him for His faithfulness to Kingsway over all these years by building an "Ebenezer"-an altar- of remembrance. Thus far He has brought us and He will lead us on!
Around 500 guests attended and were entertained by the children and teachers whose hard work and preparation resulted in a wonderful concert. Parents volunteered to cook a hearty meal, so everyone was well fed, too. All in all, we had a day to remember!

Vega Instruments SA sponsored a lunch for our Thandanani children, they donated fridges.stoves and TV’s. Each of the children received towels and a clothing voucher in order to buy clothes of their own choice. We were excited to have Rainer Mielke, financial director of VEGA Grieshaber Germany, VEGA Instruments SA’s principal company with us. Marcus Kniesel accompanied Rainer on their first visit to South Africa. Thank you for visiting us. Thank you to John Groom MD of Vega SA, your support during this year has been absolutely amazing.
